You asked: “Shopify opens checkout to AI shopping agents”

1. 1

“Shopify announced on Monday that browser-based AI shopping agents can now complete purchases on Shopify merchants’ sites, not just search products and add them to a cart. Shopify already supported WebMCP, a proposed standard for agents that work inside the buyer’s browser, for storefronts and carts. Now it covers checkout too, including Shop Pay, so agents can read and fill in the checkout directly rather than relying on screenshots or scraping pages, the company said.”
